Questions, answered plainly

What does pressing the button actually do?

It shows you the choice you already made: “Instead of scrolling in bed — you’d rather read one page of my book”, with the easiest way in. Tap “I’m doing it” and your count goes up. That’s the whole app, on purpose.

What if I’m not ready when I press it?

Nothing bad. “Not right now” gives you three gentle paths — something else, a minute to breathe, or “not tonight”, which closes with no guilt. Nothing ever counts against you; there are no streaks to lose.

What’s free, and what’s Premium?

Free, always: one active swap, the button on your lock screen (iPhone) or notification shade (Android), your full count and milestones, the breathing pauses, and crisis support. No account needed. Premium adds more active swaps, per-swap reminders, AI suggestions, every placement (widgets, watch, Action Button…), and 19 more colours.

How do I put the button on my lock screen / watch / Action Button?

In the app: You → Add the button. Every surface has numbered steps, and where your phone allows it, a button that does the setup for you. iPhone surfaces like Siri, Back Tap and the Action Button all share one small shortcut the app helps you create.

Do my swaps leave my phone?

They’re stored on your phone. If you sign in, they’re also backed up to your own space so a new phone can restore them. When you save a swap, its text is safety-checked on our EU server so the app can offer real help if it reads like more than a habit — it isn’t stored there. AI suggestions (Premium) send only the swaps you can already see. Full details: the privacy policy.

Is this a habit tracker?

No. It doesn’t watch your screen time, track your location, or score you. It only knows what you type into it, and the only number is a count that goes up.

What happens if my subscription lapses?

Nothing is deleted, ever. Your extra swaps “rest” — held gently, switchable any time — and one stays active. Premium brings them all back exactly as you left them.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Through the store, not the app: iPhone — Settings → your name → Subscriptions → I’d Rather → Cancel. Android — Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → I’d Rather → Cancel. You keep Premium until the period ends. (In the app: You → Subscription → “Change or cancel” jumps straight there.)

How do I get my data out?

You → Privacy & data → Export my data — a JSON file with your swaps, count and settings, shared wherever you choose.

Does the Apple Watch / Wear OS app need my phone?

It works on the wrist: press, choose, breathe, count. Your swaps and colour sync from the phone; wrist swaps sync back when the phone is nearby.

I wrote something I’m worried about and the app showed me crisis lines. Why?

Because some things deserve more than an app. If a swap reads like it’s about self-harm, an eating disorder, or substances, I’d Rather won’t cheer it — it offers real resources first, and treats you like an adult throughout. It’s a safety net, not a diagnosis.

Manage or cancel your subscription

iPhone / iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → I’d Rather. Or App Store app → profile → Subscriptions. Refunds: reportaproblem.apple.com.

Android: Google Play → profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → I’d Rather. Refunds: Play order history / Google support.

Deleting data does not cancel a subscription — cancel in the store first; the app points you there too.

Delete everything

In the app (preferred): You → Privacy & data → Delete everything. This erases your swaps, count, settings and cloud backup (if you had an account, the account too) — from your device and our servers. It cannot be undone, and it does not cancel a store subscription (the app shows you where to do that first).

No app access anymore? Email support@worthspreading.com from your account email — deletion within 30 days, confirmation when done.
